Amelia Chandulal-Mackay
Amelia was born and raised in Whanganui. She trained at the Whanganui Ballet
and Dance Academy and participated in the Junior Associates program at the
New Zealand School of Dance. During this time, she completed both her RAD
and ISTD Advanced Two Ballet examinations with distinction, and attended
summer and winter intensives in New Zealand and overseas. Amelia
commenced her full-time training at Ecole Ballet & Dance Theatre and Tanya
Pearson Classical Coaching Academy Sydney Australia, and later moved to the
USA where she was a trainee with Orlando Ballet, and danced with Milwaukee
Ballet II and Oklahoma City Ballet II. She also completed a year on scholarship at
the Ailey School in New York City. Since returning to New Zealand, Amelia has
worked with many Auckland studios and Classical Collab – Auckland’s youth
ballet company. She is currently working with Amdram Theatre as choreographer
of Phantom of the Opera. Amelia is in her final year of a Bachelor of Arts
majoring in psychology and criminology.
