KIMBERLEY COUSINS (studio manager/teacher)
Kimberley has 40+ years of dance experience, with formal training in RAD ballet, NZ Modern and American Jazz, and contemporary. She has spent her life performing in dance competitions, performing arts shows and ballets. At 18 she trained full time in Contemporary dance at The Performing Arts School (the course that later was integrated into Unitec). Kimberley has performed and choreographed in, many musicals around Auckland and loves the wide variety of dance styles that they encompass. In 2012 she competed nationally in Figure and Fitness NZIFBB competitions, winning regional titles in both categories. Kimberley is a Level 3 Certified Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) Teacher, having completed two courses in Auckland and Sydney and continued her training online to reach her Level 3 certification. In 2019 she has completed Lisa Howell’s 3 day intensive Dance Teacher Training in Sydney and has a passion for safe practices and conditioning for dancers. In 2021 during lockdown, she has completed an online Anatomy course and also became certified to teach Sugar Foot Therapy programmes (cross training for dancers). She sells online printable resources for PBT and dance teachers under her brand Échappé to Dance.
A previous IT business consultant, she now combines her passion of dance with her IT skills as the Studio Manager for Dance for Life Academy. She is the system whiz who manages our bookings system and does all our graphic design for our signage, social media, marketing and events.
Kimberley teaches Adult Ballet, PBT/Conditioning, Senior Swans®️ Ballet, Theatre Jazz and Repertoire. She especially loves teaching the Senior Swans®️, and feels that the classes provide a safe space for the ladies to express themselves through their love of dance!
