What to Wear

Feel Comfortable

We want you to feel beautiful when you come to your class, so go ahead & wear what makes you feel that way!
To ensure your attire does not impede your movements, please follow these guidelines.

BALLET BEGINNERS may wear any comfortable exercise clothing, fitted at the lower leg (leggings good), preferably with ballet shoes or slippers by Phase 2. Hair should be tied back off the face in a bun as loose hair, even ponytails, can distract & deter movement during turns.

BALLET PROGRESS AND OPEN: Any Balletic attire, leotard, tights, skirt, leg warmers, ballet shoes .Hair in a bun. Please arrive 10 minutes before class to ready yourself & warm up.

We recommend you have your ballet shoes fitted at
The Dancers Wardrobe, Shop 4/179 Manukau Road, Epsom https://thedancerswardrobe.co.nz/
Please remove your street shoes before entering the studio to protect our floors. There are storage cubes inside the studio to keep your belongings safely close by during class.
Please switch off mobile phones & refrain from chewing gum.

JAZZ/LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY: Leggings and singlet/t-shirt is ok. Wear cropped or full-length leggings, NOT running shorts. You want to keep as much heat in your muscles as possible. You need to be able to move comfortably and perform stretches on the floor. Ensure long hair is tied back so not in face when turning or jumping.
